The major port settlement in the Western Marshes, Grime lies along the Marsh Walker route to get to the capital of Gallow. The great Grime River slopes its way through the city, and boats of all kinds make their way through the slime of it to fish for food and hunt monsters. Creatures of all kinds live in the River and the Grime River Guard patrol it, keeping merchants safe where possible, and checking all goods that come in for contraband.
Baron Grime’s militia are known to be particularly corrupt however, taking hefty bribes and allowing crime to go unpunished for the right money. Grime is for this reason, a den of thieves. It has even been the case that elves and dwarves with enough money can find acceptance in Grime. It is also the home of the Thieves Guild, an organisation dedicated to larceny and criminal activity. Rumoured to have an accord with Baron Grime to perform their activities in exchange for a cut of the money, the Guild runs the swamp city. Most who want to enter, or indeed leave, will come into contact with a member at some point.
